The emphasis was to cater to large groups from offices around ranging from 8 to 25 people per group. Hence we derived inspiration from dining halls and community eating places of the past era i.e, tudor style dining halls to medieval kitchens across the globe. The high ceilings with wooden rafters has been a common noticeable element in all these spaces and we wanted to translate the same in a contemporary and cost effective manner. It was challenging to incorporate this as the clear height available was only 9’6”. Hence we decided to go with materials that are slender and easy to mount with thinner sections. MS flat creates a frame work on which ropes were weaved to form rafters and patterns. The ceiling pattern with copper finish on MS and black painted ropes set the tone for this space. The sloping ceiling along the periphery, lights the seating with rope drop lights. The floor and wall in rustic texture beige colour and black painted bricks on the opposite wall, form a contrasting foreground to all the drama along the ceiling.

The live kitchen, dessert counters and pizza oven – all lined up along the buffet banquet brings in warmth and excitement to this contemporary community space.
